Job opportunities in the USA

Finding work and the need for an income are likely to be an essential part of a successful visa application for most migrants. If you’re thinking about emigrating to the USA, the system may be a little more difficult compared to other countries.

A recruitment agent will not take you seriously if you are not already residing in the US. Writing for jobs can normally be a waste of time; likewise US employers have no idea what foreign qualifications are or mean (except degrees). But if you are applying for a visa then you need a job offer before you can get the visa, which makes things a little trickier. The best way of securing a job in the USA is through employer sponsorship or finding a role that cannot be fulfilled by a US citizen.

The USA operates the H1-B visa scheme for those wishing to work in the USA who hold certain technical qualifications and expertise. The list includes various medical professionals (including surgeons, dentists and nurses), IT/computer professionals, architects, journalists, lawyers, accountants and scientists.

We’ve listed a few current positions in some of the main US cities that fit the criteria. You can click on the job title links for more information.
