Spain is the most sought-after destination for British overseas property seekers, new figures show.
The latest Top of the Props chart from overseas property portal The Move Channel reveals that Spanish property accounted for 6.49 per cent of all enquiries during October – the highest amount of any country. It had only been the third most enquired about location in September.
It is the fourth time this year that Spain has ranked in first place for buyers in the chart. Andalucia and the Valencian Community drove the majority of activity during this period.
With regards to the two countries that had previously ranked above Spain, the United States slipped to second place, garnering 5.05 per cent of all enquires, while France fell from second to fifth, with just 2.61 per cent of enquiries.
France was overtaken by Portugal, which enjoyed a significant surge in international interest, with enquiries more than doubling month-on-month in October to account for 4.37 per cent of the total, and the UAE (2.84 per cent).
Despite the fact the New Zealand government recently revealed plans to ban overseas property investors from purchasing property in the country, NZ entered the top 10 for the first time, accounting for 1.53 per cent of all enquiries.
